Having an email provider is essential for a mature mobile application. When it comes to email, there are two main facets to consider.
Transactional Emails
Section titled “Transactional Emails”Transactional emails are sent automatically by your mobile application – things like password resets, verification codes, and welcome messages.
A great provider for this is Resend. You can:
- Integrate Resend with Supabase – all authentication emails get sent automatically via the SMTP server
- Send ad-hoc emails from the Python API – add the Resend API key and use the Resend Python SDK for custom email logic
More support for sending emails from the backend is coming to Mosayic over time.
Business Email (Free with Cloudflare)
Section titled “Business Email (Free with Cloudflare)”If you follow Mosayic’s recommendation to use Cloudflare as your domain registrar, you can set up free email.
While something like Google Workspace costs about $6/month for business email, sometimes in the early stages it’s convenient to cut costs where possible.
How It Works
Section titled “How It Works”Cloudflare makes it easy to receive emails for free at any business email address, assuming you own the domain and it’s registered with Cloudflare:
- Go to the Email tab in Cloudflare
- Set up email routing/redirects
- Incoming emails get forwarded to your personal inbox (like a free Gmail)
Sending from Your Business Email
Section titled “Sending from Your Business Email”You can also configure your free Gmail to send emails from your business address using Resend’s SMTP server.
